Storm Cloud

Leave Kylie alone!

AUSTRALIAN pop diva Kylie Minogue copped a bitter serve from ex-Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown at the Q Awards overnight.

Brown said Kylie's music was "rubbish" and "for little kids".

He told the BBC Radio Five Live: "I don't know what Kylie's doing at a music awards to be honest.
"I don't think she's cute. I don't think she's good-looking. Her music's rubbish - she makes music for little kids.

"I'm sorry if it sounds like I'm putting her down, but there's a lot of great minds out there making music and she's not one of them."

Sir Paul McCartney, Kylie Minogue and Arctic Monkeys were the big winners at this year's Q Awards, held at the Grosvenor House Hotel overnight.

The Beatles legend received The Q Icon award, Kylie took The Q Idol accolade and Arctic Monkeys claimed the prestigious Best Act In The World Today prize at the glitzy ceremony at London's Grosvenor House Hotel.

Paul notably failed to mention his estranged wife Heather Mills in his lengthy acceptance speech, in which he thanked his former Beatles bandmates, John Lennon, Ringo Starr and George Harrison, and his late wife Linda McCartney.

He said: "I've been coming to these things for a long time and you sit there petrified, not knowing what to say, should you tell a couple of dirty jokes?

"I would like to thank George, John and Ringo, the boys. I would like to thank Linda for seeing me though some real tough periods, and my beautiful family, my kids, who are fantastic."

The 65-year-old singer was presented the award by a visibly drunk Damon Albarn, who earlier bemused the star-studded audience with a rambling speech when he collected The Q Inspiration Award.

Storm season has begun, at last!

The answer is - a Swan. The Whatisit picture is of the neck and part of the body/wing. They are the property of the Queen, and of course are white but you do get black ones.

Birds of Australia

The graceful Black Swan, (Cygnus atratus), is the official bird of Western Australia although it can be found in wetlands throughout Australia, including Tasmania. Along with the emu, this swan is found on the Australian coat of arms and represents Western Australia. On Canberra's emblem, the bird is a symbol of the Aboriginal people while the white swan represents Australians of European ancestry. The Black Swan even runs through Australian folk lore. There are Aboriginal stories about some people in a tribe in Western Australia who were began life as Black Swans but were then changed into men

Advertising boards

I've never seen this before in London, or perhaps just haven't noticed it before. People stood along the streets, with boards advertising their shop, restaurant, McDonalds, tattoo parlour, whatever. Here in this picture there were four together. I thought it was quite odd. There was one bloke, (the one with the Tattoo and Piercing board,) who was reading a paper at the same time.

I just thought it was peculiar. No one seemed to take any notice of them either.

Halloween

Halloween shortly.

Sleep? How much do you get?

So how much sleep do you have each night?

Does it change with the seasons (eg. winter) or are you up at the same time each day?

Do you sleep in on week-ends?

Do you remember your dreams?

Do you dream in colour?

Two hot-air balloons, *missed them by that much!

So I am lying in bed, the house to myself, contemplating training the cats to get the newspapers in the front garden, when I hear this whooshing noise. Haven taken 3 hot-air balloon rides myself, I recognise the sound, and quickly scramble out of bed.

The bathroom calls, and I pee as fast as I can (TMI?) and then throw some clothes on.

Meanwhile, the noise now sounds so close it could be in the next room, sounds like Dr Who is landing!

I grab the camera and dash outside only to find not one, but TWO hot air balloons drifting quite quickly over my house.

Right over the top! By the time I hold the camera to my eye, they are well and truly behind the lovely large leopard tree, argh!

Missed them by that much! *sighs

Its a pity they can't play nice

Should we be shocked by this? No I guess not its all part of the games now. Don't think it does not happen here(Aust)all the time. What excuse did she use? The old 'I did not know it was steroids' Who does she think she is? Shane Warne!
Federal authorities fingered BALCO s the source of the designer steroid THG, which was known by the lab as “the clear”.

Her former partner Tim Montgomery, with whom she has a son, was banished and his world 100m record run erased based on evidence collected in the BALCO probe.

Jones herself had steadfastly denied ever using performance-enhancing drugs, even while the BALCO-spawned suspicions swirled around her.

She struggled through doping accusations at the 2004 Olympic trials and flopped in Athens.

According to the Post, Jones says in her letter that her former coach Trevor Graham gave her the banned drug, telling her it was flaxseed oil.

“Red flags should have been raised when he told me not to tell anyone about” the supplement, Jones wrote.

Jones said that when federal investigators asked her if she had used “the clear” and shown her a sample of it, she panicked and said she hadn't even though she recognised it as the product she used.

Jones also said that in an unrelated case she lied about a $US25,000 ($A28,700) cheque given to her by Montgomery, who pleaded guilty in New York this year in a bank fraud case.

London - more pics

This water, is call The Long Water, it either adjoins or is part of the Serpentine. A rather lovely part of the water.

This is the Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain.

This part causes a rippling effect to the water, but the picture does not do it justice.

If you click on the picture below, you can read what is written.

This water is called the Serpentine.

Harrods, recognisable by the green shades. It is a huge shop.

The stairwell in Harrods where the escalators are now.

I love this. I love the decor.

This water fountain was presented by The Metropolitan Drinking Fountain & Cattle Trough Association to mark its 80th Anniversary 1859-1939. I thought it was lovely because of the little bears.

When Squirrels Attack

Monday afternoon, I was bit by a Squirrel that I was trying to rescue from my cat. I had to pry my cat’s jaw open to release the squirrel, that’s when the squirrel bit me in the knuckle of the wrist and finger. The Squirrel got away and ran off.

I had Kevin drive me to the ER. I registered and they took my vitals (6:18 PM), then I waited for an hour and a half to have them clean out my hand. While we were in the waiting room, some guy was tilting the vending machine back and forth to get his snack. I told Kevin, that there was going to be another ER emergence, fortunately there wasn’t.
I started thinking of the Pink Floyd lyric from Time "Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way ", well it is the American way too.

At 8:05 PM they took me in to an examination room and I met the doctor briefly. After another 30 minutes, they scrubbed out the puncture wounds (4) with Hydrogen Peroxide, antiseptic soap and water (boy that hurt), and x-rayed my hand for any broken bones, (there where none). They put my left hand in a splint to keep it immobile, and gave me some antibiotic pill. I didn’t leave there until 9:15 PM.

Fortunately Squirrels around here don't have Rabies (thank God), and I didn't have a Tetanus shot. But I have to watch out for infection, and see the Doctor in a couple of days.

By the way, this was the second time I had this happen. The first time was back in 2000. They didn't put my hand in a splint that time.
