GALES and heavy rain have again hit southeast Queensland with the severe weather set to continue throughout today. Wind speeds of up to 90km/h have been recorded along parts of the coast.
"There have been quite damaging winds around the place and we've had a number of reports of trees, branches down and things like that," senior Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Brett Harrison said.
Nearly 70mm of rain has been recorded on parts of the Sunshine Coast, while falls of up to 50mm have been recorded on the Gold Coast.
Brisbane Airport recorded about 16mm in the 24 hours until 9am (AEST) and further rainfall is expected across the region today.
However, SEQ Water spokesman Mike Foster warned the rainfall would have little impact on the region's dam levels.
He said about 6mm of rain had been recorded in the catchment area so far, causing an increase of just 0.01 per cent to the combined levels of Somerset, Wivenhoe and North Pine dams.
About 20mm to 30mm of rain were expected to fall in the catchment area over the next couple of days but would only add a few days to the dams' supply.
South-east Queensland was lashed with heavy rain causing severe flooding about two weeks ago.
