Johnnos Friday Whatisit
What are these and what are they used for...The lighter is only there to give you a size
Answer....They are Fly-Tying Bobbins.
The 'clamps' loosely hold a spool of (cotton, metal, nylon, etc.) thread or wire. The thread goes through the hollow single tube end. It's held by the thickest part (chrome on one, brass on the other) simular to a pencil or pen, and used to easily wrap thread on the fly.

ah, blimey, how am I supposed to know that? *hits JOhnno. I knew that the thingy slid down, and I knew that it clamped something, but fly bobbins? *hits Johnno again for good measure, lol.
Well Patty I hope you hit him good lol I know you explained it Johnno but I still don't get it, Why would you fish for flies, we use Mortein down here.
