as seen in the centre of the picture. I'm not into succulents they do nothing for me but this is amazing this only grows this pole from the centre of the plant and flowers once every 5 years. It grows at a rapid rate at 5 inches per day at the moment its 6ft tall and should flower in 2 weeks time. Just think of the energy required by the plant to push this continually higher into the air. Once it has flowered the pole collapses and the succulent wilts and virtually dies. I guess from all the strain of pushing it up.
