I'm absolutely livid and disgusted that the Morris Inquiry has been stopped, and the reason for it being stopped is just as stupid. The Commissioner has to ask tough questions from those who were managing the hospital in order to paint a picture of why terrible things happened at the Bundaberg Hospital. Now all that evidence listened to from patients, doctors and Department of Health is considered to be contaminated. The patients who were effected under the rogue Dr. Patel must feel like they've been kicked in the guts a 2nd time. Were we to knaive to think justice would be done for the victims. Will certainly be interesting to hear what the Premier has to say OK i'm going to make some predictions of what may happen in the next few months.
1: The Beatie Government will not appeal the decision to the court but will hold talks to see the validity of starting a new inquiry.
2: Months and months will go by with nothing being done. The probable excuse is that the government is looking for a suitably qualified person to reopen the Health Commission Inquiry.
3: The Rogue Dr. Patel will never be extradited from the US to face the music here.
4: The former Health Minister Nuttal will be exhonerated by the CMC for lying to the commission
5: All the previous proceedings and testimony cannot not be used in a new inquiry as its considered tainted evidence. ( Not a prediction but a known fact )
6: Political Suicide to sit back and not start a new inquiry, or is it that the government knows they will probably not get relected at the next state election

Yes Paul, I am just as angry. The poor patients do not need to go and relive their experiences anymore, it's not justice, and I hope the mongrels that instigated this closure never sleep.
it has to be unthinkable for the Beattie government to just walk away.
But the only reason they would walk away, is to protect the witnesses from being put under the spotlight again. Like I said, it's not justice, and there are layers of politics init. Peter Beattie is doing a great job under the circumstances.
OK I knew there were 3 things that should never be mentioned between friends, Polotics, Religion and I forget the Third one. Its a lost cause isn't it I'm not going to get you to change sides and come across to the right lol. The only reason its not likely to reopen is to minimize any further damage to his government. Bloody Labour Governments couldn't run a chook raffle if they tried.
I don't mean to harp on about this but I just read the courts have allowed all previous transcripts and patients statements to be used in any further inquiry. So that means they don't have to relive and retell their storyies. So theres no excuse not for a new inquiry. Then on the other hand if Tony Morris was supposebly biased in his questioning wouldn't the new commissioner be considered biased for using past statements and transcripts.
