Its a Small World

Earlier in the month, I went over to Cheney in eastern Washington State to visit my cousin and celebrate my Aunt's 89 birthday.

Her husband is a wheat farmer, and had written several letters to our state Senator Patty Murray about the high price of gas for the farmers. So she decided to come all the way from Washington D.C. to hear about the problem.

He wrote a presentation called Why Farms Fail. It was because the high price of fuel to move the farm product to market was eating away at the Farmers profits. He predicted that 25% of the farms would go out of business next year, and another 25% the following year. He was backed up by information from his bankers, and suppliers, to name a few. He even had some solutions to remedy the problem.

Since I was spending the night with them, I became his unwilling guinea pig to practice his speech on. He managed to whittled it down to 5 minutes.

The next day was the big day for the speech, unfortunately I went with my cousin to celebrate my Aunts birthday. After words, my cousin dropped me off at the airport for my flight home. As I sat at the gate waiting for the plane to arrive, a small lady about 4 feet tall ( 1 meter) sat down across the isle from me with her 6 foot tall male aide. Sure enough, it was Senator Murray.
They where looking at charts and graphs. I recognized the charts. I started smiling, and had the urge to ask her how his speech went, but I resisted.

When I got home, there phone was busy for several hours. I did get through later, and found out that his speech went well. I heard him yell "Why didn't you ask her" when my cousin told him. The reason I didn't was I figured I might of said something to tick her off.

Oh Gary...I'll say it too!!! You should have spoken to her!!! Every chance I get I am nattering on in one of ours ears. I'm sure they have me on some sort of 'watch list' because of the emails, letters, and phone calls I make.

When I am working an election, our local Senator votes in my district. I've always got a few things to say to him about what's going on!!!
