Huge surf with waves exceeding five metres and flooding rains are expected to hit many parts of eastern NSW on Friday.
A severe weather warning issued by the Bureau of Meteorology is current for the Hunter, metropolitan Sydney, Central Tablelands and Illawarra and the South Coast regions.
Heavy rain is expected to cause flash flooding in the Hunter and parts of Sydney and the Central Tablelands on Friday.
Damaging surf conditions, with waves exceeding five metres, are likely to produce significant beach erosion between Newcastle and Port Hacking on Friday afternoon, and between Port Hacking and Moruya o n Friday night.
Surf Life Saving Australia recommends people stay out of the water and stay well away from surf-exposed areas.
SES spokesman Phil Campbell said there were 75 calls for help between Wollongong and the mid-north coast on Thursday.
And he added the worst of the weather was yet to come.

Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys. When it
killed the turkeys, the people who had put all the money into the
research wanted a payback so they put their heads together to figure
out what to do with this product to get their money back. It was a
white substance with no food appeal so they added the yellow
coloring and sold it to people to use in place of butter. How do
you like it? They have come out with some clever new flavorings.

This fact alone was enough to have me avoiding margarine for life
and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added,
changing the molecular structure of the substance).
You can try this yourself:
Purchase a tub of margarine and leave it in your garage or shaded
area. Within a couple of days you will note a couple of things:
* no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it
(that should tell you something)
* it does not rot or smell differently because it has no nutritional
value; nothing will grow on it. Even those teeny weeny microorganisms
will not find a home to grow. Why? Because it is nearly plastic.
Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast?

Barossa Valley gets Monopoly
THE Barossa Valley and Adelaide have scored the prime real estate positions in a new Australian Monopoly board game unveiled today.
The wins are the result of a national online poll in which nearly 17 million votes were cast over five weeks.
Nearly half of all votes were made by South Australians, with the Barossa Valley easily winning the prestigious Mayfair thanks to 2,046,136 votes.
The popular tourist spot and Adelaide, which scored Park Lane with 22.95 per cent of the overall vote, are among 22 regions featured on the new board.
They included mining areas Kalgoorlie, Broken Hill and Sovereign Hill.
However, surprisingly, Sydney missed out on getting a spot by just 0.6 of a percent.
Barossa Tourism's Julian Maul said the whole region would be celebrating the region's win. "Monopoly is Australia and the worlds best loved game and we have no doubt that this will lift the profile of our beautiful region and be a boost for tourism,'' he said.

First water, now milk dries up
QUEENSLAND will run out of fresh milk supplies by Christmas unless a predicted drenching helps break the drought.
With thousands of southeast Queensland dairy cows being slaughtered because of a lack of feed, 170,000 litres of milk a day will be trucked north from NSW or Victoria to meet demand next year, according to a report released yesterday.
Transporting milk from interstate will push up retail milk prices and mean a shorter shelf life. But offering a glimmer of hope, forecasters yesterday were holding out for parched southeast Queensland to get good rain, possibly tomorrow and Thursday.

Australian team conquers Everest
THE latest Australians to conquer Mount Everest reached the top of the world despite two of the three-man team having to overcome pneumonia early in the expedition.
The success by climbers David Chiew, a Sydney doctor, Robert Jackson, from the NSW Hunter Valley, and Mark Sheen, from Perth, brought the unofficial tally of Everest climbs this season to almost 470.
Today's climb also put Jackson in the elite group of climbers to have conquered the seven summits, the highest peaks on each of the world's seven continents.
Various Everest and mountaineering websites said there also had been six deaths on the world's highest mountain this year.
Chiew, Jackson and Sheen began their final summit push early today and reached the peak just after daybreak. With them was Sherpa Sirdir Namgia who reached the summit today for the second time this year.

Americans kill Skippy!
A RUNAWAY kangaroo named Skippy died after it was shot with a tranquiliser dart by US wildlife officers - just days after an emu was killed by German police.
The kangaroo escaped from captivity at a private home in Hancock County, Indiana, on Friday when two teenage girls left its cage open.
It had spent the weekend bounding through the area - much to the surprise of locals.
Jim Greider saw the kangaroo on Friday night and thought it was a huge rabbit.
His family and guests went out to watch the animal hop down the road in front of his house and a few motorists swerved to avoid it.
"I didn't even know anyone here had a kangaroo," said Greider, 53.
Hancock County Animal Control officers captured the Australian marsupial early today not far from its home.
The cause of Skippy's death was not known, said Kenny McConahay, an officer with the Hancock County Animal Control Department.
The amount of tranquilizer used in the dart was only half of the recommended dose, McConahay said.
"When our officer left the scene, it was still alive and coming out of sedation. It was recovering," McConahay said.
Skippy's owners, David and Sue Schutt, were unavailable for comment. Skippy got loose on Friday when two teenage girls opened his cage.
"I left the gate open and the lights on for him ... thinking he would come back," said Sue Schutt.
Indiana does not require a permit to keep kangaroos, said Dean Shadley, a wildlife conservation officer with the state Department of Natural Resources.
"I can't imagine there are very many kangaroos in Indiana," said Shadley. "I've worked here for 33 years, and this is the first I've heard of one."
An Australian emu was shot dead on May 25 following a cross-border chase in Europe.
Police in Switzerland and Germany were both involved in the hunt for the creature.
The operation ended tragically when German officers opened fire on the bird.

MY WEEK IN REVIEW by Johnno
Ok, here we go….the week started off well on Monday…off to work as per usual for another week at the office. I heard that the Holden airship was parked at the airport so me being me I went to investigate…could not get near it for a shot…Tuesday was pretty average steak and veggies sort of day. Wednesday I got a call from a fellow who owns half of all Townsville property. He informs me that the Holden airship was parked up the end of his property and would I like to take some photos. I could not get there quick enough.
Thursday I had to drop my girls laptops off to computer nurds…one of them was very sick(the computers that is). Anyhow, after another couple of hundred dollars all should be ok again.
Today I am just getting ready for going camping in a week…what to take…hmmmmm?
Tonight we have ex neighbors arriving at home for a BBQ, should be a whole lot of fun.
What an empty week that was, but with a bit of forward warning for this project I could make it a very interesting week.
Highlight of the week….Getting up close to the Holden airship for some great shots.
Low of the week….Hearing my favorite uncle has throat cancer (he smokes Rothmans still) silly bugger.
